All the mentioned problems are the limitations that will cause immediate psychological stress, as the living conditions of the colonizers can’t be even compared to the most severe prison.
The minimal distance from the Earth to Mars is 55,6 million km. Therefore, the opportunity to bring whatever is necessary to the red planet is rather limited. In order to make the bases comfortable for the colonizers, to let them work productively and conduct research, it is essential to create autonomous life support systems on Mars. In other words, to generate suitable for human lungs oxygen, pure water and food, rich in nutrients.
Marsonation is the project designed by our company is aimed at solving all the existing problems with Mars colonization. Its core is the idea to continuously generate at least three essential to life components on Mars — air suitable for breathing, water and food. Marsonation is the synergy of new technologies, integrated into a unified life-support system for the Martian base.

The diagram below shows the principle of the system. Mars has an atmosphere, although it is not breathable, but it contains useful resources that we can use (95% carbon dioxide, 0.16% oxygen, moisture).
The success of Mars colonization directly depends on how fast and efficiently we can start producing vital items along with generating water and pure air

Here is the principle of the system, which is divided into several stages
The first stage of the system — Air purification where we use recirculation and run the used air of the base through the modular equipment for air purification. If needed, the air from the outer atmosphere can be added to the process
The purified air goes through the moisture absorption station where we collect all the moisture (respiration, sweat, atmospherical moisture) and direct it to the water filtration station. Recirculating water (urine, processed water from washing) is also added. This stage provides us with the first vital resource – WATER.

Dry purified air moves on to the oxygen absorption module, where we collect all the oxygen and supply the internal premises of the base. The second resource is available – OXYGEN.

The next stage starts when we send the air (now consists of almost 99% carbon dioxide) to the Bioreactor, which is a seaweed tank where carbon dioxide is absorbed and used for the growth of the seaweed. OXYGEN is a by-product of the Bioreactor, which is also used at the base.

The station of biomasses processing is designed for the separation of proteins and carbohydrates from the biomass. They enter the next module in liquid form. Moreover, the by-products are the remains of the biomass, which can be used as fertilizers for growing crops.

The final module — Food 3D printer. In this device the nutritional fluid is mixed with the concentrates brought from the Earth and food is printed. Its taste and shape resemble the original items.

In addition to the basic air purification that eliminates 99% of all internal pollutants, it is essential to include a high-level bacteriological protection module. We have already done a research on such technologies and created the experimental equipment.
Besides, the production technology of the concentrates by dehydrating with the maximum preservation of taste and beneficial properties has already been designed by us and is applied in food industry. This means that a printed apple (pizza, beefsteak, etc.) will have 90% of taste and beneficial properties of the original item. Therefore, the colonizers will be able to have a rich and varied diet, similar to the one on the Earth.
Marsonation concept implies generating water and nutritional fluid, which are of 100% Martian origin, and prepared food, which is at least of 95% Martian origin. With efficient algorithm setup of food growth on Mars the last figures can be also brought up to 100%.
